English – Arabic

The Program to Strengthen the Lebanese Parliament through Development of a

Legislative Resource Center in Lebanon (PSLP) is the United States Agency for

International Development – funded legislative strengthening program designed

to improve administrative support services of the Lebanese Parliament and assist

the Parliament in establishing a resource center which will serve as a leader in

information and training in the Arab world. The program is implemented by the

State University of New York/Center for International Development (SUNY/CID)

in Beirut, Lebanon.

SUNY/CID is a leading university-based international development center

enhancing the knowledge and practice in the area of governance and policy

making. Over the past quarter century, SUNY/CID has provided technical

assistance to over thirty parliaments and regional parliamentary associations

worldwide.

This English-Arabic dictionary provides selected terms used in legislative work,

and the meaning of those terms in the context of Arab parliamentary work. It

was prepared for the Arab Institute for Parliamentary Training and Legislative

Studies, established in July 2011 under the auspices of the Arab Inter-

Parliamentary Union and the Lebanese Parliament.
